Poison
Make the Shot, Dodge the Roll #
A fast-paced game that combines basketball shooting, quick reflexes, and dodgeball-style reactions. Ideal for small to medium groups at a basketball court, the game rewards accuracy and awareness.
How to Play #
Players line up behind the free-throw line. One at a time, players shoot the basketball:
-
If the shooter makes the basket, they must retrieve the ball before it bounces twice. If it bounces more than once, they're out.
-
If the shooter misses, the next person in line must retrieve the ball before it bounces twice. If they fail, they're out.
-
If the shooter makes three shots total, on the third make, they must shout "Poison!" Once they shoot their third shot, all other players may move freely, but as soon as "Poison" is called and the ball goes in, everyone must freeze.
-
The shooter then retrieves the ball and attempts to roll it at a frozen player's feet. If they hit someone, that person is out. If they miss, no one is eliminated.
Players continue in this cycle until only one remains.
Rules #
Bounce Limit: A ball may only bounce once. If it hits the ground twice before being caught, the responsible player is out.
Missed Shot: If a shooter misses, the next player in line must chase the ball and catch it within one bounce.
Poison Rule: After a player makes their third basket, they must shout "Poison!" Once called, all players must freeze. The shooter then rolls the ball at a player’s feet.
Movement Timing: Players can move around freely between the shot and when "Poison!" is called—but once "Poison!" is announced, all players must freeze immediately.
No Cheap Shots: Shots missed on purpose must be aimed at the back of the hoop, not rolled or bounced directly at others.
Winning: The last player remaining is the winner.
